Pope Francis has called for a day of prayer and fasting for peace in the world

Good morning,

During the opening Mass for the second assembly of the Synod on Synodality, the Holy Father called for a day of prayer and fasting for peace on October 7th across the world. This marks the one-year anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel and also is a time of escalating violence in the region.

In responding to the Pope’s call, the Cardinal encourages you to consider how you might participate in a day of prayer and fasting for peace in your parish, school, or ministry.

The Archdiocese will be posting on its social media assets the following image and message, which we encourage you to share on your parish, school and ministry sites.

For Instagram and Facebook posts the following text is approved for use along with the image; these will appear on the RCAB sites:

IG/FB Post: Pope Francis has called for a day of prayer and fasting for peace in the world today. He says, “In this dramatic hour of our history, while the winds of war and the fires of violence continue to devastate entire peoples and nations,” the Christian community is reminded of its call to “put itself at the service of humanity.” bit.ly/FastingOct7  #worldpeace #prayerandfasting
